The Prestigious Miami Dolphins
As a part of the NFL’s Eastern Division, the Miami Dolphins are one of the most popular teams in the league. Their first game was played in 1966, but since then, they have gone on to rack up a notable track record since then. Star quarterback Dan Marino was known for his powerful arm while he was in the Dolphins, and went on to set nearly every major NFL record in passing and throwing.
The Dolphins themselves also have quite a colorful history. Joe Robbie, a prominent politician and attorney, founded the team alongside actor and comedian Danny Thomas. Both of them realized that their area did not have a professional football team since the demise of the Miami Seahawks in 1947. The Seahawks only played one season before folding.
In their formative years, the Dolphins set up a defacto training camp in Saint Andrew’s school, which was a boarding prep school in the Miami area. Their first Superbowl appearance against the Dallas Cowboys ended up in a landslide loss, but the Dolphins quickly followed through with a perfect season, along with a Superbowl win, in 1972. Their wins also extended to regular season and NFL playoff games.

Their technical prowess also help them become the first team to play in three consecutive Super Bowls, as well as the second team to have back-to-back wins in championships. Another notable part of Dolphins history is the era when Dan Marino took over quarterback duties. Marino still holds many records for passing and throwing, including the Most Passing Yards, Completions, and the Most Wins as a Starter.
Currently, the Dolphins have their own Stadium, which is known as the Sun Life Stadium. Located in the Miami Gardens, the stadium rests somewhere north of the heart of the city, and remains to be a popular site for Dolphins and general football fans alike.
